DuoApp vs Eque2 - finance-first, or site-first?

Eque2 grew out of construction accounting, and it shows: it is strongest where the numbers live, with long-standing Sage integration and solid commercial control. DuoApp starts from the other end - the site. Applications, CIS invoicing and retention are all there, but so are QA sign-offs, snagging, document compliance and timesheets, in a mobile app your team will actually open. One flat £10 per user, per month.

// The honest version

Where each one is stronger.

No tool wins every category. Here is where Eque2 is the better answer, and where DuoApp is.

DuoApp vs Eque2

UK · Finance-led

Where Eque2 is strong

  • Deep construction accounting heritage and mature Sage 50/200 integration
  • Strong commercial control - valuations, cost value reconciliation and margin reporting
  • Well suited to firms whose finance team is the primary system owner
  • Established UK vendor with a long track record in the sector

Where DuoApp wins

  • One product rather than a suite - no choosing between Construction Manager, EVision and add-ons
  • Published £10 per user pricing with every feature included
  • A true mobile app for site, not a companion to a desktop system
  • Offline QA and snagging that sync when signal returns
  • Document compliance, expiry alerts, holiday planning and expenses included as standard
Bottom line: If your bottleneck is construction accounting and Sage is the centre of your world, Eque2 is a natural fit. If your bottleneck is everything that happens on site before the numbers arrive - approvals, QA, documents, timesheets - DuoApp closes that gap for a predictable price.
// Making the move

What switching actually involves.

The pattern we see most often is a firm running Eque2 in the office and paper, WhatsApp and spreadsheets on site - with someone spending their week reconciling the two.

Site data arrives already structured

Timesheets, QA sign-offs and variations are captured on a phone at the point they happen, so the commercial team is not chasing them at month end.

Applications and invoices without re-keying

Priced works, specific works and sub works all feed applications and CIS-compliant invoices directly, with retention and deductions applied automatically.

No module map to maintain

Everything is in the one £10 rate - there is no separate licence for the mobile piece, the document piece or the QA piece.

Questions buyers ask us.

Is DuoApp a direct replacement for Eque2?
For the project, commercial and site layer, yes - applications, CIS invoicing, retention, variations, approvals, QA and document control. Where Eque2 also acts as your construction accounting system tightly bound to Sage, DuoApp instead hands clean figures to your existing accounts package. See invoicing and timesheets →
How does DuoApp pricing compare with Eque2?
Eque2 does not publish list pricing and is quoted per module and per seat, so the total depends on which parts of the suite you licence. DuoApp is a single published rate of £10 per user, per month with every feature included and no module selection to make.
Which is better for subcontractors?
DuoApp, in most cases. Subcontractors need applications, CIS deductions, retention and variations handled correctly, but they also need the site team submitting hours and sign-offs without paperwork. Finance-led systems tend to cover the first half well and the second half through add-ons.
Do I have to leave Sage to use DuoApp?
No. DuoApp is deliberately not an accounts package. It produces CIS-compliant applications and invoices with retention and deductions already applied, and those figures go into whatever you use for statutory accounts - Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or your accountant's system.
How quickly can we switch?
Most teams are running their next project in DuoApp within a few days. There is no implementation phase, so the usual approach is to start new projects in DuoApp and let in-flight ones finish where they are, rather than migrating everything on a single cut-over date.
